The city¡¯s air quality comprehensive index was 2.56, ranking 9th among 168 key cities on the Chinese mainland and the PM2.5 concentration was 17 micrograms per cubic meter,  ranking first in Fujian. 100% of drinking water source area, major national control sections of river basin, major provincial control sections of river basin, provincial control sections of small watershed, "promoting governance with rewards" section of small watershed had reached standards in regards to water quality. The water quality of coastal waters remained positive, with annual excellent water quality point ratio of 86.4%, an increase of 4.6 percentage points over the previous year. The soil environmental quality remained stable, with the utilization rate of hazardous waste disposal reaching 100%. The compliance rate of urban acoustic environmental functional areas was 100% during daytime and 86.2% at night, maintaining the ranking in the top nationwide . 

 

The city covered a construction area of 378.06 square kilometers and 198 parks with an area of 4030.84 hectares were open to the public. The per capita green area of parks reached 14.6 square meters and the green coverage of built-up urban area was 20,501.01 hectares, with a green coverage rate of 44.11%. Meanwhile, the city¡¯s sewage centralized treatment rate reached 100% and so is the pollution-free disposal rate of living garbage. 

 

In the year 2022, the total amount of tap water consumption stood at 458 million tons, of which 102 million tons of water was for production and operation, 209 million tons was for daily household usage and 89 million tons was for public services. The city¡¯s total electricity consumption reached 33.579 billion kWh, including 16.217 billion kWh of industry electricity usage and 7.485 billion kWh for the use of urban and rural household. The total amount of natural gas supply had amounted to 412.6054 million cubic meters with household consumption of 61.3757 million cubic meters and natural gas users of 731.2 thousand.

 

There were 78 production safety accidents in the city, resulting in 57 fatalities, No major accidents occurred. No accident happened in the field of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery, mining and water transport industries. 4 accidents occurred in commerce and manufacturing industry and 3 people were confirmed dead; 50 accidents and 29 deaths occurred in the transportation and storage industry (excluding highway and railway transportation); 21 accidents and 22 deaths occurred in the construction industry; and 3 accidents and 3 deaths occurred in other industries. The death toll from workplace accidents for every 100 million yuan worth of GDP was 0.0073.
